Priorities and delays
Thanks to some great support, I am able to get this week’s newsletter out while I am away with family in Sydney for the week.
The flights were booked a couple of months back, and the main reason for the visit was to visit my wife Bel’s 99 year old grandmother, whom she called ‘Nena’.
We kind of knew that it would be the ‘last visit’ as she had weakened a lot, although overall her health was alright. Sadly, almost exactly a month ago she peacefully passed away. Bel flew over for the funeral and we decided that we would all keep our tickets and as they were, not disrupt the school term, and pay our respects in the planned visit.
Why am I telling you all this? I guess because behind this story there is a delay. We had been meaning to get over to Oz to see Nena for the past six months or so, and we had just let life get in the way.
There is no manual for all of this. We have to do the best that we can manage. It is pretty easy to get caught up in the ‘urgent stuff’ but that stuff will still be here tomorrow. Sometimes loved ones won’t be.
It’s a reminder to me about priorities. To stop putting the important things like family, at the back of the line.
