The Best Agency Award Goes To….
In social psychology and sociology, an in-group is a social group to which a person psychologically identifies as being a member. By contrast, an out-group is a social group with which an individual does not identify. (Thank you Wikipedia).
One of the forces that large corporations benefit from is the ability to create a large, strong ingroup. But the price of being part of a group is that sometimes you get blinders, and an ‘us and them’ mentality sets in.
“We are the best, you are the rest.”
To further my thoughts today, we are going to have to try to define ‘the best’ because being in the best place is really what this is all about. If you are going to align with a group, you tend to think that you are the best, so…
- Best NPS Score?
- Best ranking for Rate my Agent
- Highest sales volume?
- Highest Gross Commission?
- Best company to work for?
- Most money donated?
- Most Technologically advanced?
- Highest Growth?
So, as you can see, ‘best’ is not as clear as it first seems – there are many variables.
If there is one “best agency”, all of the best people would work there. And anyone who worked there would become the best. There would be a cohort of the best agents all in one place. They could go out and tell the world that they are the best agency.
Because this is not the case, I am going to confidently say that there is not one agency that is better than any other agency. Sorry, there is no “best”.
The question we should be asking is “what is the BEST fit for me”?
