When I needed someone I could… trust…
I can remember in the early days of Independent Agent I was running our New Zealand Real Estate Trust Account (NZRET) via Public Trust. I was going crazy with the requirements and the time burden it was putting on me. ‘Surely there are easier ways to run a trust account’ I thought. As it happens, there are – but none are as safe for our clients as this way.
I was very lucky because the solution fell into my lap. One day out of the blue I received a phone call from someone who had heard about our business and just happened to know how to run the NZRET platform.
Could she work from home and work for us? For sure.
Leanne Prinsloo had recently moved to the countryside, fulfilling a desire for her and her family to live a rural lifestyle with animals, fresh air, and space. Her children were off to the local country school and the school bus pickup was at the end of her driveway.
She didn’t fancy going back to the office after lockdowns, which included a 50 minute commute each way and a substantial childcare problem.
I was able to get some pretty exceptional references from people already in our business and it didn’t take long to decide that Leanne was exactly who we needed.
Leanne has all those qualities you need at the ‘contracts’ end of the deal. An attention to detail, accuracy, and clear communication.
Sales people are put under plenty of pressure and we need the support of people who do a great job, as well as understand our pressure and respond accordingly. Leanne is patient and communicates with kindness. She does this with a firm persistence. A special combination. You will see this common thread at Independent Agent as I introduce you to our team.
I was a salesperson once too, so I know what it’s like when ‘admin doesn’t get it’. One of my goals is to make this company as user friendly as possible for salespeople. Alongside that I also want to build a ‘people business’; and warning, I’m going to get a bit flowery here – if there is not a human connection within this business I will not consider myself to be succeeding.
Even though we work remotely and the greatest proportion of people in this business are contracted salespeople, this human connection is a very important measure for me.
Leanne’s skills in handling some of the most critical communications, dates, follow-ups and adjustments at the ‘pointy end’ of the deal, in a gracious and uncompromised manner is all a part of this overall vision. And in her own words ‘I’m much happier working from home in a quiet space, without the constant office interruptions’. It’s a win-win.
