Start as you intend to…

Happy New Year! Here is to a productive and profitable 2024.

I was chatting to a colleague about how important this time of the year is for anyone like us – those who run their own business. The pace is different but you can still get a lot done. In many situations you are allowed (expected?) to show up in beach clothes. The usual administrative forces are slightly less ‘full on’ and even the IRD gives us a break with the first GST return of the year (although they get back on track pretty quick….).

Amongst the change of pace there is time for thought and reflection.

Routines are all over the show but things still get done. Just at a different speed.

Anyway, here is a thought that got me.

Someone said to me to start the year as you intend to finish.

I certainly don’t disagree with that, but for January I am going to take it back one step.

I am going to start as I intend to start.
