A 2022 Wrap Up… Thank You & Season’s Greetings!

First of all – and most importantly, Seasons greetings to you all. Have a safe and happy holiday period wherever it may lead you.

Personally, and on behalf of my team, I would like to thank you for keeping an eye on what we are up to. It has been a year of many firsts and much growth for Independent Agent. However, all of this has been happening within a challenging Real Estate environment.

As I described to my team this week in our last meeting, I have felt much like the two-faced mayor character in Tim Burton’s ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ this year. Projecting happy and upbeat one moment, and having to get serious talk about difficult subjects in the next breath. And then… back again. I guess this final message of the year is a bit like that too.

There has been a post floating about on social media that has addressed the strain that we have all been under. At the beginning of the year, we were emerging out the other side of a pandemic. The pandemic was a new and frightening situation that created prolonged and constant fear and uncertainty, saw friends, family and colleagues pitted against each other, and opposing lines of information spreading like wildfire. I think it was the fear and uncertainty that affected everyone the most.

Emerging from this, we have come into a period of major economic challenge, a period that has yet to deliver its full hand.

To sum it all up… for a lot of people, times have been very challenging – yours truly included.

This feeling has extended over to some people doubting their abilities. A loss of confidence has seemingly taken root in the thoughts and minds of some people. ‘I don’t know what I am doing wrong’, ‘I have lost my mojo’, ‘I can’t seem to do this anymore.’  Please remember, if you have done it once before, you can and will do it again.

Humans are masters at dealing with stress, and highly adept at rapid and complete recovery. We have been doing it for many thousands of years.

And so, while there is struggle, at the same time, there is not one person that I have spoken to recently that does not have a ‘bring it on’ attitude to 2023, looking forward to the possibilities that a new year brings. Despite obvious challenges ahead, the prevailing attitude is one of positivity and hope.

So, keep it real. Challenges will pass. Cherish what is important. Put yourself in the way of opportunity. Keep doing the mahi, the results will come. And while it is here, enjoy the sun.

And so, on that note, once again, I wish you the very best for this holiday period. Look out for yourself and your loved ones, and have a blessed and prosperous New Year.

A very special welcome to Sharene Temple and Corbin Howard, and their new Branch, Luxe Real Estate. Sharene and I met when she was helping me to sell a couple of apartments I owned in Auckland’s Viaduct. She got the results while offering some of the most personalised and genuine service that I have come across as a vendor. When I started Independent Agent I had to let her know what I was up to, and so it is super rewarding to be welcoming her to the team. I am looking forward to supporting Sharene and Corbin in this next stage of their business. With some new listings of homes and apartments that they have already brought in, I know that Luxe Real Estate will become synonymous with service and quality offerings.

A warm welcome also this week to Kate Symons. Specialising in and around the beach suburbs at the end of the Mahurangi Peninsula North of Auckland, Kate has established herself as an expert, selling in this location. With a background in accountancy, and someone who lives and sells locally, she has a real understanding of the process and the product. I am looking forward to working with Kate as she continues to grow her real estate business.
