Winter Masterclass

Remote work takes some getting used to – and one of the challenging elements is not getting to know your colleagues quite as well as you could in person. 

Last week, a large contingent of the eXp New Zealand team (along with a few Aussies), met in Christchurch for our inaugural winter event – we wanted to get together, but we also wanted to have an opportunity to grow and learn. 

Our presenter for the day was David Palfreyman. He was on fire, and I can see that his skills continue to refine and develop. Everyone took some new learning home with them to put in practice. 

He also drilled into us all a reminder that as salespeople, we really are our own business, we are the director, the shop assistant, HR, and marketing. And because of that we REALLY need to look after ourselves. 

Alongside David’s sessions, we held panels, shared vision, and talked strategy. We learned from each other and we connected. I feel that leadership was developed through preparing and presenting and stepping outside of comfort zones. 

We also had the good fortune to invite people from other agencies who are interested in what we are up to and what this eXp thing is all about. 

But the opportunity to meet in person is a huge reason we went through the effort and expense of putting this together and it is a big part of the reason people came along. 

I love working remotely. It suits me well. Like many of you, life is not just work and there is an enormous amount going on, all the time. I know I get more done in the quiet of home, and completely on my own schedule, so I can fill everything I need to do. 

But it is great to get together as well. 

There will be more of this, as we identify gaps where people not just want the support, but need the support of admin, management, and one another. The more we grow (and we are growing…) the more opportunity we will have for regional get-togethers and events.

This is the kind of remote work business we are building.
