Football is Life

As I was taking my morning walk earlier in the week and reflecting on the Auckland Football Club (AFC) win on Saturday, I started thinking about sport and performance. 

This team has gone from non-existence to league winner in 2 years. Remarkable. As my mind rambled away I came across the phrase ‘Football is Life,’ which originated from the TV show ‘Ted Lasso’ but even so still offers a great lesson. 

And while I am not a sports mad guy, I have been following the World Surf League (WSL) competition in Raglan over the past two weeks.  

I would say that if you spoke to any one of the surfers or spectators, they would tell you that Surfing is Life. 

When you lean in with dedication to an activity the analogy becomes clear – as it is with your chosen interest, so it is with life.

Which brought me to thinking about Real Estate, which certainly is Life. As with sports, other interests and other occupations all of the life lessons are there – the victory, the disappointment, the injuries, the exhaustion, the high highs and the low lows. They all show up in life, sports and in real estate.

I know that our lives are more than Real Estate or Surfing, but there is an analogy there. And I think that this extends to ‘success’ in life. 

You are going to get out what you put in, be it ‘Life’ or anything else.

And what you put your time into is what you are focusing on.

So if your analogous life in Real Estate is less than lovely, reflect on where that focus is, and what will it take to get your real estate life looking good again?
