Introducing Claire
Have you ever made a hire from a Facebook group?
We first met Claire on a REX users support group. We kicked off IA with REX software (we have since migrated to VaultRE) and like CRMs everywhere, they are big things to drive and need a lot of learning.
So when we found out about a Facebook group that had a community of users that were happy to answer questions we were pretty happy.
In the process, there was one name that kept popping up with great answers! Claire Wilkins from Freehold Admin.
Kim decided that actually, we needed to start paying Claire for all of this advice, and so we engaged with Claire on a consultancy basis. During this process we found out that Claire actually loves REX (yes, the CRM – more on Claire’s quirks later) and that she sometimes referred to REX as her boyfriend. Well she did a great job, we can live with that!
Within a short period of time, Claire was invited to join the team, handling the uploading of our listings as they come in, and as the team will tell you, making sure that there are no outrageous or misleading advertising claims going on either (this country must be filled with thousands of those damn non-consented sleepouts!).
Pretty cool way to grow a business and a role within it.
But then a small crisis emerged. We decided we had to switch to VaultRE. I can tell you that Kim and I were actually SCARED to tell Claire our decision to switch CRMs. We managed to come up with the idea ‘wouldn’t it be great to learn a new CRM’. Luckily Claire agreed, happily.
Claire is fiery, feisty, and to be fair, quite quirky. So she fits in well… Working from a converted garage in the deep south of Timaru (did you get a consent for that conversion Claire?) in the background we often get glimpses of tramping and camping equipment drying, marsupial skulls, and greyhounds. We never know what colour her hair will be (usually green or red) or how bright her clothing will be. We alway know exactly what she thinks of something. There is no ambiguity with this one.
Claire, you are instrumental to our business and of course were instrumental in that growth stage, joining with flexibility. We love working with you and catching up with you in person when we get the chance. I am sure that poor old REX is still missing you but that will pass I am sure!
