Snippets from the week

Snippets from my thoughts this week.

If they are calling the meeting, or calling you, they want to do business.

This happened to me twice in the last week. In one instance, I was ready to do the business. Contract in my satchel and ready to rock and roll.

On the other hand, I was a bit blind-sided. Because I have learnt to be comfortable in confusion, and I look at mistakes as learning opportunities, I managed. But I could have done better!

On first assessment, the goal of an argument is to win. I challenge this. The goal of an argument is to find the truth. If you are unprepared to change your point of view when participating in an argument, you are (arguably…) not arguing. You are protecting your beliefs, your doctrine, your ego. Your Point Of View.

Common sense would say that if they have nothing for sale and there is nothing recently sold, they are out of business. They are probably not a great asset. Unless they are… They might be a highly qualified participant who has had a sabbatical. Maybe they decided to change their patch, maybe they had a ‘health thing’ going on. Sometimes, the numbers do lie. Sometimes you need to look a little deeper, a little further, a little higher.

Running until your shins splinter may not be the only or the best way to run… There might be another way. Devonport half-marathon this weekend. Running this distance with others is a first for me. I am aiming for nothing more than a starting point to work from, but you can still wish me luck.
